This project started in the spring of 2014. I embroidered my used garments as a way to empower myself and others living with HIV so that we could reclaim our intimate and sexual bodies. The concept originally came from the issues around disclosure I faced living in North Carolina as a poz teenager and young adult and how they affected my ability to seek intimate and sexual partners. I wanted a way to break the ice of disclosing my status, so I designed underwear that would say the things I couldn't say out loud at that time.
